RESPECTING SOCIAL MEDIA
Today is Saturday - early evening in New York. This week i have been posting a blog a day as a discipline. In the world of Social Media everyday there is something new going on that is worth mentioning, so it hasn't been difficult for me to find interesting topics to blog about. I am passionate about Social Media . That is why i created my company Spirapex; to consult professionals on how to utilize social media platforms to their benefit. I recently befriended a woman - who is also a social media expert and quite well known. her name is Mari Smith. She mentioned on her Facebook page that she was quoted in The Vancouver Sun this morning, in an article about the new Catfish documentary. I will probably see the documentary - but that is not why i am posting this blog today. The article is quite good and worth mentioning. In this article called " Friends in the face of Facebook", by Denise Ryan, Mari Smith states that, "Facebook, is a golden Rolodex". I "like" that, and the word golden speaks volumes to me in terms of how Facebook should be used today as a social networking tool. Discretion is advised and just like a precious metal - our presence on the net should be safeguarded and protected, and that is something that only we can control. I think being more conscious of how we present ourselves on Facebook in both of our personal and business lives is a huge responsibility, not to be taken lightly. Using Facebook and (of course Twitter too) are fun and easy, but using them correctly to represent who you are must be taken very seriously. Be aware that whenever you write a post or a tweet - your name, face and/or business reputation will "follow" you.
